At least eight Naxalites were killed on Saturday during an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Abujhmarh area within Narayanpur district. In the exchange of gunfire, one soldier lost his life and two others sustained injuries.

The ongoing encounter between security forces and Naxalites has persisted for the past two days across Maad and Narayanpur districts. The operation involves Narayanpur-Kondagaon-Kanker-Dantewada DRG, STF, and ITBP 53rd Battalion forces working jointly.

Security measures against Naxalites in the “Red Corridors” have intensified, bolstering anti-Naxal operations. Last month, security forces eliminated 12 Naxalites in Bijapur district during a prolonged gun battle.

The encounter near Pidia village in the Gangaloor region unfolded during a search operation by a team of security personnel. The intense clash lasted eleven hours before the forces concluded their operation.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai praised the efforts of the security forces and officers involved in the operation. “Since the BJP has come to power in Chhattisgarh, action against Naxalites has intensified, and we are giving them a tough fight,” Sai affirmed. “Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji and Union Home Minister Amit Shah ji are determined to eradicate Naxalism and ensure the benefits of a double-engine government reach the people.”

On April 16, security forces had previously eliminated 29 Naxalites in an encounter in Kanker district, while another ten Naxalites were killed in Abujhmarh region of Narayanpur district in a separate incident.
