The Delhi High Court, on June 21, suspended the release of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) contested the trial court’s bail ruling in a money laundering case linked to a now-defunct excise policy.

According to a Bar and Bench report, the High Court declared that the trial court’s decision would not be implemented until the High Court deliberates on the matter.

Earlier in the day, the ED approached the Delhi HC to challenge the bail granted to the Delhi CM.

Kejriwal, the AAP national convenor, had been granted bail on June 20 by the Rouse Avenue Court, with bail set at Rs. 1 lakh. However, certain conditions were imposed on Kejriwal before he was granted bail — he was instructed not to obstruct the investigation or influence witnesses. The judge also directed Kejriwal to appear before the court as needed and to cooperate with the investigation.
