A Territorial Army (TA) soldier was reportedly abducted by terrorists in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, as per sources cited by ANI on Wednesday, October 9.
Two Soldiers Targeted, One Escapes
According to the report, two TA soldiers were initially captured by terrorists in a forested region, but one of them managed to escape. The security forces are now conducting a search operation to locate the missing soldier.
“Two jawans of the Territorial Army were abducted by terrorists in the forest area of Anantnag. Fortunately, one of them has returned. Security forces are actively searching for the remaining jawan,” the sources told ANI.
Large-Scale Search Operation Underway
The abduction has led to an extensive security operation in the region, with forces combing through the area to rescue the missing soldier. There has been a rise in incidents targeting military personnel by militants in Jammu and Kashmir, increasing concerns over the safety of armed forces.
Recent Encounter in Kupwara
In a separate incident earlier this month, security forces eliminated two terrorists during an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on October 5. The Indian Army’s Chinar Corps confirmed the operation, stating, “The security forces have eliminated two terrorists in the ongoing operation.”
