In a shocking incident, two explosions rattled popular Rameswaram Cafe in Kundalahalli near Whitefield, Bangalore at around 1 pm on Friday. The explosions, occurring within ten seconds of each other left nine people injured, including a woman in critical condition. The incident unfolded when an unidentified individual placed a bag near the washbasin, which subsequently exploded, as confirmed by police officials.
Forensic experts, the bomb disposal squad, and a dog squad swiftly arrived at the scene for a thorough inspection. Preliminary findings suggest a low-intensity explosive device was used. Addressing the media, DG-IGP Alok Mohan affirmed the occurrence of the blast, revealing that while nine individuals sustained injuries, none are in serious condition. The investigation is underway to apprehend the perpetrator, with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) informed about the incident.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed concern, emphasizing the seriousness of the case. He assured that the accused would be identified using CCTV footage and evidence from the site. Opposition leader R. Ashok raised concerns over the prevailing sense of fear in the state, demanding increased safety measures.
Rameswaram Cafe, has frequent visit around four to five thousand customers daily, witnessed the blast, causing three admissions to Brookfield Hospital and one to Manipal Hospital. Two customers and the remaining injured individuals are hotel staff. The seriously injured Swarna Narayanappa is currently in the ICU.
The bustling Kundalahalli locality, predominantly occupied by Telugu-speaking techies, relies on Rameswaram Cafe for meals. Approximately 50 to 60 people were present at the time of the incident, predominantly tech professionals residing in the area.
As investigations continue, authorities are stationed at the scene, examining a mysterious object found at the site and a battery believed to be linked to the explosion. The police are leaving no stone unturned in probing this alarming incident.
