By-elections will soon be held on the Ramgarh assembly seat which fell vacant due to the death of Congress MLA Zubair Khan. Here both the Congress and BJP parties have started working on their respective strategies. On one hand, Congress can play the sympathy card on Zubair Khan’s family and bet on his wife Safia Khan. Although apart from Safia, the names of his sons are also in discussion, but it is certain that here Congress will try to cash in on the sympathy wave in its favor. Whereas this seat is full of difficulties for BJP. Senior BJP leaders are claiming to win all the seven seats in the by-election, but the equation of Ramgarh does not seem to be in favor of BJP at the moment. The reason is that in the last assembly elections, BJP was at the third position from Ramgarh seat. In such a situation, now a lot of hard work will have to be done to come from third to first position.
This time, many claimants have come forward for the ticket in BJP. Among them, former MLA Gyandev Ahuja, former MLA Banwarilal Singhal, Jai Ahuja and Sukhwant Singh, who rebelled from BJP in the last election, are also staking claim for the ticket. Since there are many claimants in BJP, there can be internal tussle for the ticket. BJP was at third position in the assembly elections held here last year. Sukhwant Singh of Azad Samaj Party gave a tough fight to Congress. In this by-election, BJP will have to strengthen its political ground. For this, state in-charge Radha Mohandas Agarwal and state president Madan Rathod have recently come to Ramgarh and taken feedback from the workers.
Third front can make the election interesting
In such a situation, now it will be interesting to see on Ramgarh seat whether Congress is able to take advantage of sympathy in the by-election or BJP is able to make a comeback on the basis of its strategy. However, the murmur of a third front here can also make the election more interesting. Being the most talked about seat in the whole of Rajasthan, it is a matter of prestige for both Congress and BJP. In this by-election, there is a challenge for the Congress to maintain its legacy, while for the BJP it is an opportunity to regain its lost political ground. The election results will tell whose bet proves to be successful this time.
