On October 23, BJP councillors protested outside Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi’s office at MCD headquarters, criticizing the AAP government for the delay in the mayoral election.
Previously, AAP’s national convener, Arvind Kejriwal, urged Mayor Oberoi to conduct the overdue election and ensure representation for the Scheduled Castes community.
The mayoral election has been on hold since April, as the lieutenant governor requested “input from the chief minister regarding the appointment of a presiding officer.” Now, with Atishi as the new chief minister, the process is anticipated to resume soon.
