On Monday, leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Himachal Pradesh paid heartfelt tributes on the 99th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, acknowledging Vajpayee’s indelible legacy, declared that the nation could never forget the revered leader.

The Bharatiya Janata Party is commemorating Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birth anniversary with a series of events nationwide, recognizing the day as Good Governance Day. In Shimla, Jai Ram Thakur and other party leaders gathered at the Ridge to honour the late Prime Minister.

During the event, Thakur highlighted Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s special connection with Himachal Pradesh and lauded his notable achievements during his leadership. Thakur also shared insights into Vajpayee’s poetic prowess, emphasizing the multifaceted contributions of the former PM.

“The country can never forget Atalji; he laid a network of roads that connected rural areas of Himachal. Atal Tunnel is among his contributions to the state,” expressed Thakur. He went on to remind the audience of Vajpayee’s pivotal role in enhancing India’s nuclear capabilities and leading the nation to victory in the Kargil war against Pakistan.

Good Governance Day aims to enhance public access to various government programs and services, reflecting the principles championed by Atal Bihari Vajpayee throughout his political career.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee, born on December 25, 1924, in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, left an indelible mark on Indian politics. Congress leader and Shimla Mayor Surendra Chauhan also joined in paying respects to the late leader, underscoring the bipartisan acknowledgement of Vajpayee’s enduring contributions to the nation.
