On Tuesday, a joint operation involving the Border Security Force, anti-human trafficking team, and intelligence unit led to the arrest of 10 Bangladeshi nationals who were using fake Aadhaar cards to conceal their identities. This operation was part of a targeted effort to identify and apprehend Bangladeshi individuals. Acting on specific intelligence, teams conducted searches at suspected drop-off locations in the Amtali and Dukli areas of West Tripura.

“At about 0515 hours, the BSF team, along with sister agencies, apprehended 4 female Bangladeshi nationals, which included one baby. Subsequently, based on the lead, at about 0800 hours, the joint party further apprehended 6 other Bangladeshi nationals along with one suspected Indian Tout,” mentioned the statement from BSF.

“Initially they denied being Bangladeshi nationals and tried to stake their claims by producing fake Aadhar cards, but during preliminary questioning, they accepted being Bangladeshi nationals,” added the statement.

Ongoing interrogations are being carried out by the BSF and GRP. The BSF has intensified its efforts against the network of brokers aiding the illegal entry of Bangladeshi nationals into Tripura.

On Tuesday evening, at Agartala Railway Station, local authorities detained 16 Bangladeshi nationals, comprising 13 men and 3 women. Among those apprehended, three have been identified as Bangladeshi brokers engaged in illegal activities. The individuals were taken into custody, and a case has been filed at the Agartala Government Railway Police Station (GRPS) under various sections of the law.
