Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s PA Bibhav Kumar, who was arrested in the alleged assault case on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal, has filed a bail plea in the Delhi High Court. The Delhi High Court will hear Bibhav’s bail plea on Friday. Bibhav has challenged the lower court’s order in the High Court.
Earlier, Delhi’s Tis Hazari court had rejected Bibhav Kumar’s bail plea. Bibhav Kumar has claimed in his bail plea that this case is a classic case of misuse of criminal machinery because Maliwal is an influential person. Bibhav said that his complaint against Maliwal is not being investigated, while he has made serious allegations against Maliwal. The petition states that he has suffered unreasonable imprisonment and till now he has been in custody for more than 25 days. The petition states that both Vibhav and Maliwal have filed complaints against each other, but only Maliwal’s case is being investigated because he is an influential person and a Rajya Sabha MP.
On May 18, Delhi Police had arrested Vibhav Kumar in the Swati Maliwal case. On May 13 this year, Swati Maliwal had alleged that Vibhav Kumar had allegedly assaulted her at the CM residence in Delhi. In this case, she had also made a PCR call from the Chief Minister’s residence, but did not immediately lodge a complaint. However, later Swati Maliwal had accused Vibhav Kumar of assault in a complaint given to the police.
Vibhav is currently in judicial custody and is lodged in Tihar Jail in Delhi.
