Chhath Pooja, also known as Pratihar, Dala Chhath, or Surya Shashthi, is a four-day festival celebrated with great devotion in Bihar, parts of Uttar Pradesh, and Nepal. The festival honors Lord Surya (Sun God) and Chhathi Maiya, with devotees offering prayers for the well-being and longevity of their families.
The rituals include fasting, offering delicacies, and performing Sandhya Arghya (evening prayers) to the setting sun, a unique aspect of this festival.
– November 5: The festival began with Nahay Khay, a ritual bath followed by a simple meal.
– November 7: The third day marks Sandhya Arghya, the most significant day, where devotees observe a day-long fast and offer prayers to the setting sun.
