Anurag Kashyap Says: ‘If I Reveal the Truth, Abhay Deol Won’t Be Able To Show His Face’

Anurag Kashyap, the acclaimed filmmaker, is currently busy promoting his latest film, “Bad Cop.” In a candid interview with YouTuber Janice Sequeira, Kashyap opened up about his long-standing conflict with actor Abhay Deol, stemming from their collaboration on the film “Dev D.”

Reflecting on their strained relationship, Kashyap revealed, “Abhay, I have not met him since the shooting of ‘Dev D.’ He didn’t even come for promotions and he has never spoken to me since. If he wants to call me toxic, it’s his side of the story.” He hinted at deeper issues, adding, “The truth can’t be spoken, because if I will speak the truth, he won’t be able to show his face. There is too much truth in there that Abhay will also not have the courage to talk about. And I will not talk about it because it will make him look like s**t.”

Kashyap also addressed the labels of being “problematic and toxic” that have been associated with him. “I can’t always make people happy. I avoid working with people who I think are problematic, and the ones who think I am problematic are the ones with whom I have never worked. That’s why they categorize me as a problematic person,” he explained.

For those unfamiliar with the backstory, Anurag Kashyap and Abhay Deol collaborated on the film “Dev D,” which received widespread acclaim upon its release. However, the relationship between the actor and the filmmaker soured when Deol criticized the film for allegedly glorifying “toxic masculinity.” This disagreement has kept the two artists at odds ever since.
