Anant Ambani’s Vantara Praised for Swift Rescue of Ailing Elephant and Calf in Tripura

Vantara, dispatched a large convoy from Gujarat to Tripura’s Unakoti district to rehabilitate an ailing elephant and her calf. The convoy included ambulances, feed vehicles, and a dedicated team of personnel.

An online video of the rescue effort has gained significant attention, showcasing the rapid response and thorough rehabilitation process. In the video, Kuntala Sinha, general secretary of the organization “Go Green and Help Stray Animals,” expressed gratitude to Anant Ambani and the Vantara medical team for their prompt action in saving the elephants. Sinha noted that the Vantara team arrived in Unakoti within a day of her reaching out for assistance.

The convoy completed the impressive 3,500-kilometer journey from Jamnagar to Tripura in just 24 hours to provide essential care for the elephant Pratima and her calf, Maniklal. After receiving initial treatment, the elephants were kept in Tripura’s Kailashahar for several weeks before being transported to Vantara in Gujarat for further rehabilitation.

A veterinary surgeon from Vantara discovered several wounds and lacerations on Pratima, along with severe limb stiffness and blindness in one eye. Pratima was emaciated, and her calf was also suffering from malnutrition. According to a PETA release, Pratima and her calf were being held unlawfully without an ownership certificate, in violation of wildlife protection laws.
