Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to bestow a substantial gift in Chandigarh on December 22nd, unveiling an array of projects totaling crores of rupees. The inauguration will take place at the Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology in Sector 26, where a project valued at Rs 375 crore will be unveiled. The event will also witness the distribution of appointment letters to 44 Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) and 700 newly recruited constables.

The Chandigarh administration has initiated preparations for the Home Minister’s visit, slated for the afternoon, with a planned three-hour stay in the city. As per details shared by the administration with the Union Home Ministry, Amit Shah is set to inaugurate the nation’s maiden Center for Cyber Operation and Security Center, situated in the Chandigarh Air Force Heritage Center building, constructed at a cost of Rs 88 crore. Additionally, he will inaugurate the Himachal Boys Hostel, featuring 140 rooms, at Punjab Engineering College, amounting to Rs 20 crore.

Several other projects are on the inauguration agenda, including a new Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) of the Municipal Corporation costing Rs 89 crore, STP plants in Raipur Kala and Raipur Khurd at Rs 50 crore and Rs 40 crore, respectively, and the administrative block in Sector 26 CCET at Rs 18 crore. Further, 192 Type-2 government houses in Dhanas, constructed at Rs 45 crore, and the Government Middle School building in Palsaura, Sector 56, costing approximately Rs 7 crore, will be inaugurated by the Home Minister. As part of the event, about 25 Tata Safari vehicles, purchased for Rs 3 crore 75 lakh, will be handed over to the police department, alongside command and control vehicles worth Rs 75 lakh to enhance vigilance during protests and other disturbances in the city.

Amit Shah is not only set to inaugurate numerous projects but also lay the foundation stones for several new initiatives. The Engineering Department will commence the construction of a Rs 6.5 crore Sewerage Treatment Plant in the Government Multi Specialty Hospital, Sector 16, a Rs 16 crore building in Karsan, and a Rs 10 crore structure in Government High School, Sarangpur. The multifaceted event reflects a significant investment in infrastructure and security, showcasing the government’s commitment to development in the region.
