Directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, ‘Mission Raniganj’ is produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh, and Ajay Kapoor. During a recent press conference, Akshay hailed ‘Mission Raniganj’ as one of his finest films, saying, “Tinu deserves the National Award. He’s been working on the screenplay for the past 4–5 years, putting in so much effort. I can’t predict the commercial success of this film, but one thing is certain: I am immensely proud of the film he has crafted. I am delighted to say that this is one of the best movies I’ve ever been a part of.” ‘Mission Raniganj’ also features actress Parineeti Chopra in the lead role.
The movie is based on the real-life events of the late Jaswant Singh Gill, who led India’s first successful coal mine rescue mission in November 1989. Akshay Kumar had previously collaborated with director Tinu Suresh Desai on the crime thriller ‘Rustom.’ Additionally, Akshay will be appearing in the Hindi remake of the Tamil drama ‘Soorarai Pottru,’ which is scheduled to be released in theatres on 16 February, 2024. He also has an action thriller film titled ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan,’ in which he stars alongside Tiger Shroff, as well as a comedy film, ‘Housefull 5,’ in the pipeline. Akshay will also feature in ‘SkyForce,’ a movie that tells an untold true story depicting the bravery, emotions, and patriotism of the men in uniform who participated in India’s first and most dangerous airstrike on Pakistan, against all odds. The film is directed by Sandeep Kelwani and Abhishek Kapur.
