A LinkedIn post by Ahmedabad-based AI start-up founder Shubham Mishra, seeking “exceptional humans” to join his company’s core team, has generated a lot of buzz online due to its unusual offer of “zero salary, no weekends, or vacations.” Mishra clarified to hindustantimes.com that the post was intended as satire.
Last month, Mishra, the founder and CEO of BatteryOKTechnologies, posted on LinkedIn, looking to recruit someone for his company’s “core team.” He expressed a preference for former founders from India, Israel, or the USA and listed the job “perks” as follows:
- “Zero salary. (We are seeking long-term folks to join us),” Mishra stated.
- “No weekend offs, vacations. (Unless truly required),” he added.
- “No joining gifts and too fancy office. (We don’t burn investors’ money, we respect Laxmi),” Mishra wrote, noting that the company aims to revolutionize the energy industry with AI.
Mishra assured potential candidates that the role would involve “unlimited fun building real innovative products (Not copycats).”
The post also sparked widespread discussion on Reddit, with reactions ranging from confusion to demands for confirmation of its satirical nature. “I’m confused how is this not illegal,” one user commented, while another insisted, “I literally demand this be satire.” A third user agreed, expressing certainty that it was intended as satire.
Mishra confirmed to hindustantimes.com, “Obviously it has some satire; the goal was to filter out non-relevant candidates. We are building a company for the next 50 years and seek long-term players who can grow with us.”
