The scissor was inadvertently left in the woman’s abdomen following an appendix operation at STNM Hospital over a decade ago. Despite the initial surgery, she continued to experience pain, prompting her family to seek further medical attention.
Dr. Suresh Madan Rai, the spokesperson for STNM Hospital, confirmed that a committee has been established to investigate this case of medical negligence. The committee will include officials from the Health Department as well as doctors from the hospital.
Upon her return to STNM Hospital, doctors conducted an X-ray, which revealed the surgical instrument lodged within her abdomen. The necessary operation to remove the scissor was performed on Thursday, concluding a long-standing ordeal for the patient.
