The upcoming horror-comedy Stree 2, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, is set to make a significant impact with its release on August 15, 2024, which coincides with Independence Day. This film is expected to outperform other major Hindi releases scheduled for the same day, including Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham’s Vedaa.
According to a recent report by Sacnilk.com, Stree 2 has already amassed a substantial ₹11.37 crore in advance ticket sales in India. The film has sold 381,878 tickets for its opening day.
In contrast, Khel Khel Mein has sold 15,001 tickets and earned ₹55.33 lakh in advance sales, while Vedaa has collected ₹56.57 lakh from 23,335 tickets sold, as reported by Sacnilk.com.
Other films releasing on August 15 include Tamil actor Vikram’s Thangalaan, directed by Pa Ranjith, and Puri Jagannadh’s Double iSmart, featuring Telugu actor Ram Pothineni and Sanjay Dutt. Political drama Raghu Thatha, starring Keerthy Suresh, and Mr Bachchan, featuring Ravi Teja, will also debut on the same day.
Stree 2 is the eagerly awaited sequel to the 2018 hit Stree, and continues the story with its star cast. Vedaa features John Abraham and Sharvari. Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein is another anticipated release, known for its patriotic and socially relevant themes. With the added five-day weekend, including Raksha Bandhan on August 19, Stree 2 appears to be the top contender for a strong opening.
