The 69th national convention of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad was held from 7th to 10th December in Indraprastha Nagar, Delhi. Rahul Rana, the National Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, shared in a press conference held in Chandigarh that the organization is celebrating the ‘Amrit Mahotsav Year’ (75th year) of its organizational journey.
More than 10 thousand students from across the country were present as representatives at this convention. Rana mentioned that in this convention, the Dattaji Didolkar exhibition, based on 8 themes and composed in 9 sections, was created by students from different educational institutions across the country. The exhibition depicted the bravery of Shivaji Maharaj on the 350th anniversary of his coronation, Vishwaguru Bharat, Amrit Mahotsav of Independence, the work done by various dimensions and activities of ABVP, the real history of Delhi, the major student movements in Delhi, and 75 years of ABVP. An attempt was made to depict the Dhyeya Yatra.
Rana added that Union Home Minister Amit Shah was the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the convention. While addressing the national convention, Home Minister Amit Shah said that the youth should devote their energy to creative work. There is a need not to sacrifice one’s life for the country but to live for the country.
During the convention, the Yashwantrao Kelkar Youth Award ceremony was presided over by Mr. Rajat Sharma, Editor of India TV. For enabling Indian youth from low-income and deprived sections to get global-level education, Mr. Sharad Vivek Sagar (Patna, Bihar), ‘For the fundamental work of conservation and promotion of millets’, Ms. Laharibai Padiya (Dindori, Madhya Pradesh), and ‘For making the living standards of the disabled better and more confident’, Dr. Vaibhav Bhandari (Pali, Rajasthan), were awarded the Prof. Yashwantrao Kelkar Youth Award.
In the press conference, National Secretary Rahul Rana said that a total of 6 resolutions were passed in the 69th National Convention and National Executive Council meeting, and work has started towards implementing them. He said, in the proposal, youth should adopt a healthy lifestyle, sensible development, environmental balance is necessary, concrete steps should be taken for quality education, and vibrant campus. Also, 4 resolutions, including Indian Diplomacy for Global Welfare, were passed in the National Convention and the National Executive Council meeting. At the same time, 2 proposals titled Shri Ram Mandir, a symbol of Indian self-respect, and Nari Shakti Vandan Act, a historical initiative, were also passed. A total of 6 such proposals were passed after discussion.
He said that the Vidyarthi Parishad has currently called for the participation of students to play an important role in positive changes in various fields, including education and the environment of the country. Vidyarthi Parishad has called for filling the vacancies of various posts in the Center and States soon in the interest of the youth of the country. In the coming year, the Vidyarthi Parishad will make more intensive efforts on these issues.
In the press conference, Punjab State Secretary Manmeet Sohal said that while working on the decreasing number of students from colleges, Vidyarthi Parishad will mainly focus on the Campus Chalo campaign. Regarding the upcoming programs, he said that ABVP will organize langar and religious programs across the state from 24th to 28th December, remembering the martyrdom of Char Sahibzada and Mata Ji of the tenth Guru of Sikhs, Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, and from January 12, Swami Vivekananda Jayanti events will be organized. Creative programs will be organized continuously for 15 days. In the coming time, Vidyarthi Parishad will agitate for the restoration of the student union in Punjab.
During this press conference, ABVP Chandigarh Secretary Ishu Chaudhary, Punjab University Unit President Rajat Puri, and State Girls Student Co-Head Shivangi Bhardwaj were present.
