In celebration of Independence Day, a Tiranga Rally was held on Tuesday, featuring a 750-meter-long tricolour displayed on the Chenab River’s railway bridge, which is recognized as the world’s highest. Reasi Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Paul Mahajan highlighted the event’s significance, noting that the tricolour, crafted by local artisans in just two days, symbolizes the nation’s pride and unity.

In anticipation of the 78th Independence Day, security measures have been heightened, particularly along the Jammu-Srinagar Highway. Authorities are conducting thorough vehicle checks to ensure a secure and smooth celebration. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Udhampur, Prehlad Kumar, urged the public to report any suspicious activity. “The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), and other security personnel are engaged in these checks,” DSP Kumar stated.

In addition, the Head Post Office in Udhampur organized a ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, with staff and customers actively participating. Mahesh Singh Jasrotia, Assistant Superintendent of Post, Udhampur Postal Division, encouraged residents to obtain and display the national flag from local post offices as part of the campaign.
