One such person is Jay Kishore Pradhan, a retired State Bank of India (SBI) employee, who cleared the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) in 2020 at the age of 64.
Originally from Odisha, Jay Kishore Pradhan retired as a deputy manager at SBI. Instead of winding down, Pradhan decided to pursue his long-standing dream of entering the medical profession. With determination and renewed purpose, he set out on a path to achieve his ambitions, balancing his educational goals with family responsibilities.
To prepare for the NEET, Pradhan adopted a methodical approach by enrolling in an online coaching program that offered structured support through the complex syllabus. His dedication and resilience were evident as he faced the challenges that came with his preparation.
Despite the hurdles, including family pressures and the demands of preparing for a highly competitive exam, Pradhan remained steadfast. His relentless focus on passing the medical entrance exam kept him driven. Pradhan’s journey epitomizes the idea that age is merely a number and that dreams are always worth pursuing, regardless of one’s stage in life.
In 2020, his efforts bore fruit when he successfully passed the NEET exam, securing a much-coveted seat at the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), marking a significant achievement in his journey.
