16-Year-Old Kaamya Karthikeyan Sets New Record, Conquers Mt. Everest

Kaamya Karthikeyan, a 16-year-old student of Navy Children School, Mumbai, etched her name in history by becoming the youngest Indian and the second youngest girl globally to conquer Mount Everest, standing at 8849 meters. Accompanied by her father, Commander S Karthikeyan of the Indian Navy, the duo successfully reached the summit, marking a significant milestone in their mountaineering journey.

The Western Naval Command, Indian Navy, took to X to extend their congratulations to the remarkable father-daughter duo. “#IndianNavy congratulates Ms. Kaamya Karthikeyan, daughter of Cdr S Karthikeyan, on becoming the youngest #Indian & the second youngest girl in the world to summit Mt Everest from the Nepal side,” the Indian Navy expressed on X.

Kaamya’s Himalayan adventures trace back to 2015 when, at the tender age of seven, she embarked on a trek to Chandrashila Peak. Fuelled by her father’s mountaineering passion, she gradually progressed to more challenging expeditions, including treks to Har-ki Dun, Kedarkantha Peak, and Roopkund Lake. At thirteen, she trekked to the Everest Base Camp, setting a new record as the second youngest girl worldwide to achieve this feat.

Despite facing numerous challenges, Kaamya continued to push her limits, conquering Brighu Lake, Sar pass, and eventually becoming the youngest girl to summit Mt. Aconcagua. Her recent triumph on Mount Everest stands as a testament to her unwavering courage and determination.
