Zomato, the food delivery application, introduced a novel feature named “Photo Cakes,” enabling customers to order cakes adorned with their own images. Zomato guarantees delivery of these personalized cakes within a swift 30-minute timeframe. Presently, this service is accessible in select areas of Delhi NCR and is slated for expansion to other cities shortly. Deepinder Goyal, Zomato’s founder, personally tested out this new feature.

He requested a cake with a photo to commemorate an employee’s decade-long tenure at the company. “Now you can upload your picture and get a customised cake delivered in about 30 minutes,” Goyal wrote on Twitter. He also expressed gratitude towards the restaurants collaborating with Zomato to facilitate this service.

Ordering a personalized photo cake on Zomato is a simple process. Customers simply need to search for “Photo Cakes” on the app and select a bakery or restaurant from the provided list. From there, they can choose the cake’s flavor and size, upload the desired photo, preview how the cake will appear, and proceed to place the order. Zomato assures customers that these photo cakes will be delivered within a 30-minute timeframe.

The “Photo Cakes” feature made its debut just ahead of Mother’s Day but will remain accessible post the holiday. Zomato reported that on last year’s Mother’s Day, approximately 150 cakes were ordered every minute via the food delivery app.

With the introduction of the new Photo Cakes feature, Zomato aims to simplify the process of celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions with personalized cakes.

Photo Cakes marks the latest addition to Zomato’s array of services. Recently, the food delivery app unveiled the large order fleet, comprising all-electric vehicles capable of fulfilling orders for up to 50 individuals simultaneously. Additionally, the company attempted to launch a “green fleet” a few weeks ago, exclusively for delivering vegetarian food. However, due to social media backlash, Zomato promptly discontinued the service.
