The central railway has started a “zero scraps” Initiative as a part of which the railway authorities have been diligently identifying and disposing of different types of scrap, putting first the removal of the outdated locomotive, surplus diesel locomotives, inoperable rail lines, and averaged or accidental coaches.

In the current financial year, which runs from April 1, 2023, to August 15, 2023, Central Railway achieved impressive scrap sales totaling Rs. 132.47 crores.

Comparing this accomplishment to the railway boards’ pro rata aim for the same time period, a notable gain of 20.41% is seen.

The varied range of products that have been marketed and their substantial contribution to the ‘zero scrap’ mission’s revenue creation demonstrates the mission’s success.
