Chandigarh Youth Congress, under the leadership of Deepak Lubana, surrounded the Mayor’s office and tried to lock the Mayor’s office in protest against the alleged rigging in the mayors election.He alleged that BJP has put forward the police to hide its failures and murdered democracy.

Protesting youth were lathicharged.On this occasion, former Union Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal, Congress President HS Lucky, Councilor Gurpreet Singh Gabi, Sachin Galav, Luv Kumar and yadwinder mehta a large number of City Youth Congress workers were present. Deepak Lubana said that due to the alleged rigging in the mayor’s election, Manoj Sonkar has no right to sit in the mayor’s office or avail government facilities.

Pawan Bansal said that BJP is now snatching away the right to protest from the people. Whenever Congress leaders and youth protest & takes it to the streets .the BJP tries to suppress their voices through the police. He said that even today the youth have been injured during the police action and yesterday also more than 40 youth were injured in the NSUI demonstration. He said that it seems that BJP is preparing to eliminate democracy from the country.

Chandigarh Congress President HS Lucky has condemned the excessive use of force by the Chandigarh Police during the protest. During today’s protest against the alleged rigging in the Chandigarh Mayor elections, Congress Councilor Sachin Galav, National Convener Ashish Ghaznavi, Senior Vice President Janu Malik, General Secretary Sukhdev Singh, Vinayak Bangia, Navdeep Singh, Secretary Ravi Rana, Faizan Khan, Atinder Singh Roby, District Head Dheeraj Gupta, District Executive Head Ashu Ved, Ward President Vikas Khana, Deepak Jaiswal, Ashu Sharma, Shivam Sharma, Deepanshu, Sahil, Mohit, Ravindra Atwal were present.
