Indian opener Prithvi Shaw is all set to embark on his maiden county cricket stint in the United Kingdom. The Mumbai batsman has arrived in the UK just in time for the Northamptonshire County Cricket Club’s (NCCC) one-day cup game scheduled for Friday, August 4. The Chief Executive of NCCC, Ray Payne, expressed his delight at Shaw’s arrival, confirming that the young talent will feature in the upcoming one-day cup game. The initial uncertainty surrounding his participation arose due to apparent hassles over travel documents, which caused some delays. However, with the necessary arrangements now sorted out, Shaw is eagerly looking forward to representing the Steelbacks in the England and Wales Cricket Board’s domestic one-day competition. Shaw had secured a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which allowed him to skip the ongoing Deodhar Trophy inter-zonal one-day championship in Puducherry. However, his absence from NCCC fixtures initially led to confusion about his county assignment. The club had refrained from making any official announcement until now, leaving doubts about his participation. Nonetheless, NCCC CEO Ray Payne’s confirmation has put an end to the speculation, confirming Shaw’s readiness for the county challenge. The One-Day Cup, a prestigious 50-over competition in England, commences on Tuesday. However, Northamptonshire Steelbacks’ first match against Gloucestershire at Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, is scheduled for Friday.
