Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has positioned the development of Bundelkhand, particularly the areas surrounding the Bundelkhand expressway, as the pivot for turning the region into an employment hub. Speaking in Jhansi on the occasion of National Sports Day, Adityanath revealed ambitious plans that include a defence corridor and an industrial area to attract global talent and create jobs.
“For years, the youth of Bundelkhand have been migrating in search of employment. This is about to change. The defence corridor and the industrial zone around the Bundelkhand expressway will transform the area into a new hub for jobs and employment,” Adityanath stated.
During the event, the chief minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 100 development projects valued at Rs 2,009 crore. He outlined the infrastructural assets set to bolster this transformation, such as the Bundelkhand expressway and the Kanpur-Jhansi National Highway. “A new airport in the area will be a key factor in Jhansi’s development,” he added.
Bundelkhand is also poised to be the first region in Uttar Pradesh to have two airports: one in Jhansi and another in Chitrakoot. According to Adityanath, this will accelerate development. He also mentioned the growing significance of a pharma park in Lalitpur.
Besides focusing on employment and infrastructure, the chief minister used the occasion to honour Olympic hockey players, inaugurate a hockey match, and unveil a statue of Major Dhyan Chand. He also inspected a newly inaugurated Hockey Museum.
Adityanath’s emphatic positioning of Bundelkhand as a future job centre falls in line with broader efforts to deter the migration of youth from the area. By leveraging infrastructural development and upcoming projects, the Uttar Pradesh government aims to attract investments and talent, thereby ensuring long-term regional growth.
