The Union Sports Ministry dissolved the new executive of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI). Just a few days ago, Sanjay Singh, close aide of Brij bhushan, had become its head. Sudesh Malik, mother of Sakshi Malik, who left wrestling in protest against the elections, welcomed it and said that now people with character should be brought into the federation and not characterless. He also said that Sakshi may now reconsider her decision to quit wrestling.
At the same time, wrestler Bajrang Punia, who returned the Padma Shri, said that wrestlers shed blood and sweat for the tricolor. No one works harder than soldiers and athletes. We were called traitors. We are not like traitors. We got it by winning the prize. We can take it back.
We will take back the respect. Bajrang had placed his Padmashree award on the footpath outside the PM’s residence in Delhi in protest against the WFI executive.
Bajrang Punia further said that this is the right decision. Sisters and daughters were tortured. When we win medals, we belong to the country. Don’t see any caste system. We Eat together from one plate. The federation is there to help the players, not to harass them. Brij Bhushan has placed his people in every state. Our truth was not shown.
Sakshi Malik’s mother Sudesh Malik said that the federation elections were held. After this result, the associates of those who sexually exploited the female wrestlers returned. Because of which Sakshi had to leave wrestling. Bajrang Punia had to return the Padmashree award.After this there was anger in the entire country. Seeing this, the Sports Ministry has taken this decision.
