A video showing a barrage of missiles lighting up the night sky over Jerusalem has recently gone viral on social media, stirring global concern. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) shared the footage on their official X account, showing the raw impact of Iran’s missile attack on the Old City of Jerusalem, a sacred site for Muslims, Christians, and Jews alike.

Footage Shows Iranian Missiles Over Jerusalem

The IDF’s post read, “RAW FOOTAGE: Watch as Iranian missiles rain over the Old City in Jerusalem, a holy site for Muslims, Christians, and Jews. This is the target of the Iranian regime: everyone.” The footage reveals multiple missiles streaking through the night sky, lighting up Jerusalem’s skyline.

Although Israel’s advanced Iron Dome defense system successfully intercepted most of the missiles, a few managed to break through, leaving debris scattered across the country. Locals reported finding missile fragments in various areas following the attack.

Details of the Missile Strike

Iran launched approximately 200 missiles during the evening of October 1. The intensity and scope of the attack quickly gained attention on social media, with countless videos and images shared globally.

The attack triggered sirens in cities like Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, parts of the West Bank, and the Negev, with the IDF issuing a public order for citizens to take shelter immediately. By 7:30 PM, bomb shelters across these regions were filled as the missile strikes continued.

Israel’s Response: “This Will Have Consequences”

In the aftermath of the missile barrage, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a stern message during a security cabinet meeting. “This evening, Iran made a big mistake — and it will pay for it,” Netanyahu declared. He emphasized Israel’s resolve to defend itself, saying, “The regime in Tehran does not understand our determination to defend ourselves and to exact a price from our enemies.”

IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari echoed this sentiment, warning, “This attack will have consequences. We have plans, and we will operate at the place and time we decide.”

Reasons Behind Iran’s Missile Strike

The missile attack is widely seen as a direct retaliation for the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hasan Nasrallah in Beirut the previous week. In addition, the death of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran in July, which many believe Israel was behind, is also cited as a motivation for the strike. While Israel has not officially confirmed involvement in Haniyeh’s assassination, Tehran’s leadership has held Israel responsible.

Rising Tensions in the Region

The missile strike has further escalated tensions between Iran and Israel, adding to the long-standing hostilities between the nations. As both sides brace for potential retaliation and counterattacks, the situation remains highly volatile, with global leaders closely monitoring developments.
