In a Series of Fresh Israeli Airstrikes, Dozens Killed Across Lebanon, Multiple Regions Targeted

Israeli airstrikes killed dozens in Lebanon, causing widespread destruction. In central Beirut’s Basta neighborhood, a multi-story residential building was destroyed, leaving 29 people dead. The attacks marked a sharp escalation in the conflict with Hezbollah.

Targeting Hezbollah Strongholds

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) struck Hezbollah command centers in Beirut’s Dahieh district. These included sites tied to Hezbollah’s Intelligence Unit, coast-to-sea missile unit, and Unit 4400, which manages weapon smuggling from Iran via Syria. The IDF stated these locations were crucial for planning and executing attacks on Israel.

Death Toll Rises

The Lebanese Ministry of Health confirmed 29 deaths in Basta, revising an earlier report of 20. Rescue workers searched tirelessly through the rubble, highlighting the devastating impact of the strike.

Increased Bombardments in Beirut

Israeli airstrikes continued to target Hezbollah positions in Beirut’s southern suburbs. While the IDF claimed it issued evacuation orders to minimize civilian casualties, residents reported intense bombings that destroyed key areas. Last week, a similar attack killed a senior Hezbollah official in Beirut, signaling Israel’s growing offensive.

Strikes Expand Beyond Beirut

Israel extended its air campaign to eastern Lebanon’s Baalbek-Hermel region. In Shmistar, 13 people, including four children, were killed, while 13 others were injured. Surrounding towns saw 11 more fatalities and 32 injuries. The southern city of Tyre was also hit, resulting in five deaths and 19 injuries.

Humanitarian Toll Mounts

The conflict has created a severe humanitarian crisis in Lebanon. Over 3,000 people have died, and more than a million have been displaced since September, according to the UN. Civilian areas and vital infrastructure remain under threat, compounding the suffering of the Lebanese people.

As Israel intensifies its military campaign, the impact on Lebanon’s civilian population raises pressing concerns about peace and stability in the region.
