Elon Musk Invites Kamala Harris For X Live After Her Campaign Brands Him ‘Self-Obsessed Rich Guy’

Elon Musk has extended an invitation to Vice President Kamala Harris for an interview on his social media platform, X, following a widely watched two-hour conversation with former President Donald Trump. The interview with Trump, which aired live on X Spaces, attracted a staggering 16.4 million viewers, setting new records for the platform.

Musk, clearly pleased with the success of the Trump interview, took to X to say, “Happy to host Kamala on an 𝕏 Spaces too.” The offer comes at a crucial time as the U.S. heads to the polls in the next two months. However, it remains uncertain if Harris will accept the invitation, as she has not participated in a public interview for over three weeks.

In response to the Trump interview, Harris’s campaign team was quick to issue a statement, condemning the event. The statement labeled the conversation as “whatever that was” and criticized Trump’s agenda as “extremism and dangerous,” asserting that it is a core part of his campaign. “Donald Trump’s extremism and dangerous Project 2025 agenda is a feature not a glitch of his campaign, which was on full display for those unlucky enough to listen in tonight during whatever that was on X.com,” the campaign stated.

The Harris campaign didn’t hold back on its criticism of Musk either, accusing him of being aligned with Trump’s interests. They described Musk as a “lackey for Team MAGA” and suggested that his support for Trump is a threat to democracy. “Trump’s entire campaign is in service of people like Elon Musk and himself—self-obsessed rich guys who will sell out the middle class and who cannot run a livestream in the year 2024,” the statement read.

Kamala Harris campaign's fundraising email to supporters

Even as Musk and Trump engaged in their conversation, the Harris campaign was busy sending out fundraiser emails, urging supporters to “chip in $25 now” to counter what they described as Musk’s attempt to “seize control” of democracy by hosting Trump on his platform. The campaign’s message was clear: “It’s not enough that Musk has pledged to donate millions of dollars to help reelect Trump. He’s using his purchased platform—one of the largest social media sites in the world—to spread Trump’s unhinged and hateful agenda to millions of users.”

During the interview, Trump launched a fierce verbal assault on Harris, calling her a “third-rate phoney candidate” and claiming she is “more incompetent” than President Joe Biden. “She’s incompetent, and he (Biden) is incompetent. And frankly, I think that she’s more incompetent than he is, and that’s saying something because he’s not too good,” Trump remarked. He further asserted that Harris would never agree to an interview with Musk, boasting that only he had the courage to do so.

As the political landscape intensifies, all eyes will be on whether Kamala Harris accepts Musk’s invitation and how this unfolding dynamic will influence the upcoming election.
