There has been a rise in the involvement of women in the Rajasthan Assembly elections. As per the voting percentages recorded by EVM machines submitted to the Election Commission, women voters outnumber men. In this election, male voter turnout stands at 74.53 per cent, while female voter turnout is slightly higher at 74.72 per cent. Historically, the party that garnered more support from women has often succeeded in forming the government in Rajasthan.
In this election, the count of women voters has seen an uptick compared to the 2018 assembly elections. The female voter base has surged from 1 crore 69 lakhs 58 thousand 506 to 1 crore 88 lakhs 27 thousand 294. This indicates an increase of 18 lakhs 68 thousand 788 votes cast by women. Historically, male voters and overall voting numbers have tended to surpass those of female voters. However, on a regional and booth-specific basis, the number of women voters is higher.
Highest and lowest women voting turnout
In the assembly constituencies of Pokhran, Kushalgarh, and Tijara, women have exhibited the highest voter turnout, with percentages of 88.23%, 87.54%, and 85.45%, respectively.
Conversely, the lowest women voter turnout was observed in Jodhpur, Todabhim, and Bamanwas assembly constituencies. Notably, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s assembly constituency, Jodhpur, recorded only 62.97% women voter turnout. Additionally, Todabhim and Bamanwas witnessed 63.22% and 63.63% women voter turnout, respectively.
In the 2023 assembly elections, a total of 39,211,399 votes were cast through EVMs in the state. Among these, 18,827,294 votes were cast by women, 20,383,757 by men, and 348 votes were cast by third-gender voters.
