The Women’s Premier League’s second season will take place in “one state” in India, according to Secretary Jay Shah of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). It is expected to start in the second or third week of February. Brabourne Stadium and the DY Patil Sports Academy served as the two locations for the most recent WPL tournament, which was hosted in Mumbai.
“We have the option of doing it in Uttar Pradesh or Bangalore, Karnataka. We have so many locations, including Ahmedabad and Rajkot in Gujarat. In a few years, Baroda will be able to construct their own stadium. It is essentially a collective call made by the BCCI and the teams. Together, we shall decide when we sit down. We’ll inform you. Without a doubt, it will take place in one state,” Shah said.
The women’s team from India is now facing the women’s team from England in Mumbai. They are going to play Australia in Mumbai in the next days.
Shah responded, “The domestic season is going on, so we will have to see – where the venue is available, we will have it,” in response to a question concerning plans for the Indian women’s team to play in other states or cities. Our goal is not to organize matches in Mumbai alone; there are matches taking place in Gujarat, Chandigarh, and Ranchi.”
