Women legislators to run Haryana Assembly session on Women’s Day

The Haryana Government has decided to celebrate International Women’s Day on 8 March 2021, by having the proceedings of the ongoing budget session of the Haryana Legislative Assembly be conducted by women members.

An official spokesperson said that during the first day of the budget session, which commenced on March 5, Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Gian Chand Gupta announced that women MLAs, including  Seema Trikha, Naina Singh Chautala, Nirmal Rani Chaudhary, Geeta Bhukkal and Kiran Chaudhary, will conduct the House proceedings on International Women›s Day. On this day, more women members will get an opportunity to speak in the House.

Besides this, the Arts and Cultural Affairs Department of the Haryana Government is organizing a cultural programme, Aprajita 2021, in the evening at Tagore Theatre in Sector 18, Chandigarh.

A short drama based on women empowerment, titled ‹Kitne Chehre Kitne Mukhotte›, will be presented by Dr Mahesh Kumar during the cultural programme. Besides this, a folk dance performance based on Devi Aradhana and Ragini on women empowerment and folk dance of Haryana will also be attractions for the audience.

The spokesperson also informed that there will be no entry fee for the audience at Tagore Theatre, adding that on this occasion, district-level programmes will be organised in educational institutions as well.
