Owing to continuous decline in new Covid-19 cases, restrictions in Delhi have been further relaxed till 5 am of 28 June. On the day the national capital reported 124 new cases, lowest in the last four months, the Arvind Kejriwal-led government allowed restaurants and bars to serve with 50% seating capacity and for longer working hours from Monday.

In an order issued by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), it has been said that public parks, gardens, golf clubs in Delhi will also be reopened from Monday while outdoor yoga activities will also be allowed.

“Restaurants and bars in Delhi have now been allowed up to 50% of the seating capacity and can also stay open from 8 am to 10 pm and 12 pm to 10 pm, respectively. Delhi’s bars will reopen from Monday with 50% seating capacity,” the order from DDMA read.

Just recovering from the shock of the second Covid wave, which completely overwhelmed the city’s healthcare system, the Delhi government directed the owners of restaurants and bars to strictly adhere to Covid safety measures and all official guidelines and norms, otherwise punitive actions will follow.

However, restrictions still remain in place for some activities and services including cinemas, gyms, spas among others, which will remain closed till 5 am on 28 June.

Meanwhile, Delhi recorded seven deaths due to Covid-19, the lowest since 1 April, and 124 fresh cases of coronavirus infection on Sunday as the positivity rate dipped to 0.17%, according to data shared by the health department.

Following various advisories issued by the state and Central government, the Delhi Police is also keeping tight vigil this time over people to ensure appropriate action against those found flouting the Covid norms. As per the data shared by Delhi Police, from 7 June 2021 to 19 June 2021, while 16,514 people have been fined for not wearing masks, 2,457 people have been charged for social distancing violations. A total fine of 3,92,58,945 have been imposed, while 1426 have also been arrested in 1,600 FIRs registered for Covid inappropriate behaviour, Delhi Police informed.
