On Monday, the Chief Justice of India U.U. Lalit clarified that the Supreme Court was devising a new mechanism for the listing of matters. It came after the Tushar Mehta, Solicitor General enquired that if the advocates could mention matters before the bench, CJI Lalit stated that a mechanism for listing would be prepared by Thursday.

Further, he stated that we will look at matters in the chamber and if it is urgent, we will list it…What we are doing is devising…that for listing we will go back to the original… which is that every matter which is being registered shall be listed on some day or the other day and be part of any advance list. Thus, the matter may be listed within 10 days or at least be in the advance list so that one gets to know what’s the date of listing.

Ramana. In the farewell speech, CJI NV Ramana in the ceremonial bench had apologised for not paying requisite attention to the issues related to listing of cases.
