Madhya Pradesh cabinet minister Kailash Vijayvargiya on Monday, expressed his confidence in securing a complete victory in the 2024 general elections in the state, affirming that the BJP aims to clinch all 29 parliamentary seats.
“I have to say that we are winning all 29 seats in Madhya Pradesh. Congress definitely sees a threat (referring to defeat) in the state and when Congress sees a threat, they blame Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). When they (Congress) win in Uttarakhand and Karnataka, they perform aarti (referring to appreciation) of EVM. If they lose, they question EVMs,” Vijayvargiya said.
The state minister additionally asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is poised to secure victory in the Indore parliamentary seat with a margin exceeding 8 lakh votes. Shankar Lalwani, a BJP leader and the incumbent MP from the constituency, is once again contesting in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
“We will win the Indore Lok Sabha seat by over 8 lakh votes. I think there is enthusiasm among the workers and the public. People want to see Prime Minister Narendra Modi as PM for the third time. The way the country is progressing under his leadership today, every countryman wants that if anyone can take India forward then it is Narendra Modi,” he said.
Meanwhile, in response to Congress chief Jitu Patwari’s assertion of winning four out of six parliamentary seats that went to polls in the first phase on April 19, Vijayvargiya remarked, “Congress doesn’t have workers, how will they win?”
“Ever since Jitu Patwari became Congress’ state president, only half the Congress workers are left in the state. If they don’t have workers, how will they win? The second thing is that people do not trust their leader. If one sees the manifesto of the Congress party it seems that it is prepared by some leftist or Muslim League. They (Congress) do not think about the country but about the chair,” Kailash Vijayvargiya said.
The Lok Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh are set to be held in four phases, with the next three phases of voting scheduled for April 26, May 7, and May 13. Vote counting is slated for June 4.
Madhya Pradesh comprises a total of 29 Lok Sabha constituencies, positioning it as the sixth-largest state in terms of representatives it sends to the Lower House. Among these, 10 seats are reserved for SC and ST candidates, while the remaining 19 are unreserved.
