As heavy rains continue to batter Hyderabad, daily life has come to a standstill, with officials advising residents to stay indoors due to flooded roads, heavy traffic, and fallen trees. Among the affected areas is Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), where a water leakage inside the terminal created challenges for passengers.
A viral video captured the incident, showing water pouring from the ceiling and onto the floor, forcing airport authorities to place barricades to prevent people from walking on the wet surface.
The video was shared on X by a user named Serish, who captioned it, “Hyderabad airport joins the leaky roof infrastructure party.” The footage shows a crowd gathering to watch the water falling from the ceiling, creating a scene of chaos in the terminal.

After the video gained traction, amassing nearly 21,000 views, RGIA’s official X handle responded, stating, “Thank you for highlighting the issue. The heavy rainfall led to an unusual water leakage in the terminal. Our technical team responded promptly and is working on resolving the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and assure you that our ground team is closely monitoring the situation.”
Social Media Reactions:
Social media users were swift to respond. One person remarked, “This is the new terminal extension, which opened just a year ago. Unfortunately, the new infrastructure projects don’t seem very robust yet.”
Another user, Gopinath, voiced concern, saying, “What is this @RGIAHyd? I expected GMR to uphold certain construction standards. It seems like safety and quality standards aren’t being maintained. What if the roof collapsed, like in the Delhi terminal? This extension was recently opened.”
