Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar, who will host IIFA 2024 later this month, were spotted engaging in playful banter during a pre-event in Mumbai. The exchange provided a glimpse into their friendly camaraderie and highlighted Khan’s humorous take on Johar’s career.
Shah Rukh Khan’s Playful Jabs
During the event, a video shared on Reddit captured Shah Rukh Khan teasing Karan Johar about his focus on hosting rather than filmmaking. “Karan has told me he’s not going to rehearse for hosting, he will do it on Zoom,” Khan quipped. Johar, caught off guard, appeared embarrassed as he stumbled over his words and hid his face with his hands.

Continuing his jest, Khan said, “Bhai main Zoom pe karlunga. Main badi jaldi jaldi karta hoon. Main toh itna hosting karta hoon… Picture bhi toh bana mere bhai. Tu kitna host karega?” This translates to, “I’ll do it on Zoom. I do it really fast. I do so much hosting… Make films too, brother. How much more will you host?”
Johar responded with a laugh, acknowledging the truth in Khan’s comments. “I was thinking the same when Siddhant (Chaturvedi) said it. I was like, ‘This sounds so wrong on all levels for a filmmaker’. I should be making more movies. That is exactly what I should be doing,” Johar admitted.
Karan Johar has previously hosted the reality show Bigg Boss OTT and the well-known celebrity chat show Koffee With Karan. Despite his successful hosting career, Johar has collaborated with Shah Rukh Khan on numerous films, including Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, My Name is Khan, and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna.
The Reddit post featuring Shah Rukh Khan’s comments garnered significant attention. One fan remarked, “SRK’s wit and humor are unmatched. He’s so charming… PS: Is he hinting at a future collaboration with Karan Johar?” Another user commented, “KJo has stopped exploring and taking risks in his directorial work.” A third added, “He has said this before as well. He thinks KJo is wasting time on side gigs and not focusing on storytelling.”
