During the summer break, children eagerly anticipate a break from the intense heat. However, it’s common for teachers to give students homework and projects during this time off. A recent video featuring a mother has stirred a lively debate online about the practice of assigning holiday homework.

In the viral video, the mother expressed frustration about teachers assigning projects and tasks that children struggle to complete on their own, often leaving parents to finish them instead. She called on teachers to consider assignments that match the students’ abilities, allowing them to complete the work independently without relying on parental assistance.

The video, posted on X by Eminent Woke, garnered significant attention with the caption, “Education system is doing this to parents.”

Posted on June 30, the video quickly gained traction online, accumulating over 660,000 views and sparking a wave of reactions from viewers in response to the mother’s plea.

Among the comments, one user expressed, “This is the only Industry that Blames the Customer if the Product goes Bad.”

Another proposed, “If I were the Education Minister, I would ensure that students up to Class 8 have no homework.”

A parent wrote, “School has to give homework based on class level capacity. My son got homework like “Draw human body parts”. How can 2nd class students draw human body parts?” while another added, “I’m also doing my daughter’s Summer Vacation HW that is a 3D model to show longitudes.

On the other hand, another commenter defended, “Parents don’t want to spend time with their child. Why does a creative activity suddenly become a burden? You are supposed to sit with the child and make it enjoyable for them, ensuring they stay engaged in the learning process.”

Another commenter shared their experience, stating, “I used to do all my homework myself while my dad only gave guidance. The point of these projects is to learn. You should encourage your child to balance playtime and homework evenly. The main reason for homework is to ensure that when a child returns to school, they haven’t forgotten everything!”
