Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, marking two years in office, described his tenure as challenging, citing stalled progress and the city’s regression since assuming charge in 2022.

“The last 2 years since I took over as LG have been challenging. In a City regressing due to various reasons, while we could achieve much visibly, there was much more that got stalled. There is far more that needs to be addressed and healed. I look forward and thank the people of Delhi from the bottom of my heart for their love, affection and support,” Delhi LG posted on X.

Saxena and the ruling Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government have been at odds recently over various issues.

Earlier this month, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena recommended a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for allegedly receiving political funding from the banned terrorist organization “Sikhs for Justice.”

LG received a complaint alleging that AAP had received substantial funds – USD 16 million – from extremist Khalistani groups to facilitate the release of Devendra Pal Bhullar and support Pro-Khalistani sentiments.

In April, following Saxena’s open letter to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal regarding the “water crisis” in the city, AAP minister Atishi criticized the LG, attributing him responsibility for not addressing the issue promptly by delaying the suspension of the CEO of the Delhi Jal Board.

Atishi accused Saxena of endorsing officers who obstructed work and failing to take action against them despite repeated requests, alleging that the current water crisis in Delhi was artificially created.
