Sunrisers Hyderabad batter Vivrant Sharma made a dream debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL), and he registered his name in the history book as he broke a 15-year-old record.
He became the highest Indian scorer in his maiden IPL innings, earlier; the record was linked with Swapnil Asnodkar of the Rajasthan Royals (RR), who scored 60 runs way back in 2008 in the first edition of the tournament.
Vivrant played a tremendous innings of 69 runs against the strong Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
The 23-year-old SRH batsman showed superb skill, determination, and willingness to score runs. His innings was a blend of masterful strokes and lusty hitting. His 69 runs came off just 47 balls, hitting nine boundaries and two lofty sixes as well.
The youngster hails from Jammu and Kashmir, and he played for J&K in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He remained the highest run getter for the team in the tournament, scoring 395 runs at an average of 56.42. During the process, he scored one century and two fifties.
Lucknow Super Giants coach Gautam Gambhir hit 58 runs against the Rajasthan Royals in 2008 while he was playing for the Delhi Daredevils in his IPL debut.
