A food vlogger in Chennai, known as Irfan, has come under scrutiny after he filmed his wife’s delivery in the operating room and posted the video on his YouTube channel. The video quickly gained over 1.4 million views but has since been removed.
The Tamil Nadu health department has issued a notice to Irfan and is pursuing action against the doctor and the private hospital involved. A police complaint has been filed, and a ban on the doctor who permitted Irfan to cut the umbilical cord is being sought.
State Health Minister Ma Subramanian stated that both Irfan and the hospital have violated the National Medical Commission Act. Dr. J Rajamoorthy, the director of medical services, emphasized that cutting the cord is a responsibility of the doctor, not an attendant, and a complaint has been lodged with the state medical council regarding the physician’s actions.
This incident follows an earlier controversy in May, when Irfan disclosed the gender of his baby after undergoing a sex determination test in Dubai, prompting an apology after intervention from health authorities.
