Weddings, of course, would rank right at the top in any list of trending topics in the country. The Confederation of All India Traders reports that around 48 lakh weddings are taking place between November and December. With many wedding ceremonies underway, focus is now on the invitation cards, an important detail to help guests plan their visit.

One such wedding card that has gone viral on social media has tickled the funny bone of netizens with its sarcastic template. The invite humorously announces the wedding of “Sharma ji ki ladki” (Mr. Sharma’s daughter, who excels in her studies) and “Gopal ji ka ladka” (Mr. Gopal’s son, who studied BTech but now manages the family business).

The card starts with a cheeky request: “Apki presence ki humari shadi mein bohot zarurat hai. Kyunki ap nahi ayenge to humari shadi mein khane ki burai kaun karega?” (We sincerely need your presence at our wedding. Who will criticize the food if you don’t come?)

The card reads that the venue was the same at which the retirement party of Dubey Ji was held last year, but now it’s a task to find it, since the entrance gate is as mysterious as all the other halls of the city.

When it comes to the Reception, the card gives more humor: “Shadi ka hangover abhi kahtam nahi hua, Reception ke drame dekhne zarur aaye” (The wedding hangover isn’t over yet; make sure to witness the drama at the Reception).

With some sarcasm to poke fun at the legendary lateness of Indian weddings, it further says the reception dinner will begin at 7:00 pm, but “hum khud 8:30 baje ayenge” (We ourselves will arrive at 8:30 pm), again in fine print.

There is a note to the guest for their guidance, which advises the parents to keep control over the children and not allow them to make the stage into a playground. It also suggests a meeting with the crabby uncle who will get sore if one misses the food. For, every plate costs Rs 2000.
