BJP MLA Prashant Bamb has gained attention for his viral dance moves on Amitabh Bachchan’s classic song “Khaike Paan Banaras Wala” from the movie *Don*. The Gangapur assembly MLA performed at an event held in Mhaismal, a popular tourist spot, for party workers.
The video quickly went viral on social media, leading to mixed reactions. Some netizens criticized Bamb, pointing to the ongoing crisis in the Marathwada region where farmers are facing crop losses. In response, Bamb, who secured his second term as the Gangapur MLA in the 2019 assembly elections, told PTI, “An entertainment program is organized annually for my party workers. This year, at Mhaismal, a famous tourist spot, I danced to the ‘Khaike Paan Banaras Wala’ song.”

He further added, “Before that, I also performed a Lavani, which is an integral part of Maharashtra’s culture. I don’t see anything wrong with it.”
Earlier, on September 3, another BJP MLA, Dr. Sandeep Dhurve, also faced backlash for his dance performance at an event alongside Maharashtrian entertainer Gautami Patil. The video went viral, attracting criticism from netizens who pointed out the contrast between the MLA’s enjoyment and the severe flood crisis in Yavatmal district. Critics expressed concern over the MLAs partaking in entertainment while the region struggled with disaster relief efforts.
