Steve Jobs’ Old Video Criticizing Microsoft Goes Viral Amid Outage: ‘Third-Rate Products’

On July 19, Microsoft experienced a global outage that disrupted various industries, leading to videos of stranded airport passengers circulating on social media. Amid the commotion, an old interview of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs criticizing Microsoft resurfaced online.

In the viral clip, Jobs criticizes Microsoft for lacking ‘taste’ and originality, stating that the company fails to infuse culture into its products. He explains that proportionally-spaced fonts come from typesetting and beautiful books, proportionally spaced that’s where the idea originates. He adds that, without the Mac, Microsoft would not have incorporated these fonts into their products. He expresses his sadness, clarifying that his issue is not with Microsoft’s success, which he acknowledges as well-earned, but with the fact that the company produces third-rate products.

In response to the video, X user Ashutosh Mishra commented, “Steve Jobs about Microsoft – They make third-class products. Today many people would be feeling it.”

Other users reacted by pointing out that the current issue is not Microsoft’s fault, with one saying, “This is not the issue created by Microsoft, FYI.” Another user noted, “Microsoft is many things but not a third-class product maker. 80 percent market share doesn’t come from making third-class products. One small mistake doesn’t define a company.”
