Hotel Demands Rs 800 for Restroom Access Near Khatu Shyam Temple

A shocking experience close to Rajasthan’s Khatu Shyam Temple has gone viral, as a hotel reportedly charged a senior citizen woman Rs 805 for using their bathroom for merely six minutes. This immoral action was taken when the woman urgently required a hygienic toilet during a medical emergency. The horrific experience of the family was exposed through a post made on LinkedIn, which went viral instantly.

The woman had fallen seriously ill during her trip to the temple, and she complained of stomach cramps and nausea. She struggled to get up, but her family desperately searched for a restroom but could not find any. Public bathing facilities were not ideal, so they had no option but to approach an adjacent hotel.

But rather than evince any compassion, the hotel receptionist asked for more than Rs 800 for use of the restrooms despite seeing the frail condition of the woman. The family was left with no option but to settle the high amount under the urgency of the situation.

“While we were waiting, Maa suddenly became very ill. Nausea, stomachache, and an urgent need to vomit. Papa frantically looked around for a washroom. While we were tending to Maa. But nothing usable. No washroom in the temple area around 1 km. A few public bathing spots, but nothing like proper restrooms. She was visibly in pain, hardly able to stand.”

Detailing their encounter with the receptionist, the family member went on to say:
“We hurried to a nearby hotel and pleaded with the individual at the reception— We don’t require a room, just the restroom, just for 5-10 minutes. Please, it’s an emergency. He saw my mother’s situation… and told us, Rs. 800 for using the restroom. We were (in) shock. No sympathy. No hesitation.”

They also wondered why there was no compassion, “Woh still khata hai majboor? How can anyone watch a woman suffer and assign a price to simple humanity? What are we reduced to now?”

Upon being asked to give them an official bill, the receptionist suggested an illicit Rs 100 discount if they didn’t seek a formal receipt.

Social media users were outraged at the receptionist’s actions, with many pointing out his total lack of human decency, particularly in a religious site like the Khatu Shyam Temple. The receptionist’s callousness in the face of a medical emergency has triggered outrage, with many deploring the use of a woman in distress for the purpose of a toilet.
