As Delhi entered into the merriment of Christmas, Aam Aadmi Party came out with a refreshing campaign. In the 36 seconds of film posted on X (which was previously Twitter), Santa Kejriwal delivered gifts symbolic for AAPs flagship welfare schemes to people.

The video features Kejriwal in a Santa Claus costume, with a happy song referring to him as “jolly old Kejriwal.” It depicts him giving a gift tagged Rs 2,100 to a woman, representing the Mahila Samman Yojana, a financial empowerment scheme for women. The clip also features children outside a “Delhi gov school,” underlining AAPs efforts in changing government education.

The video continues to enumerate many other projects, such as free traveling in buses for women and the free medical scheme for senior citizens called the Sanjeevani Yojana. The celebratory tag is further provided by praising Kejriwal through songs that express his mission of free electricity and health by saying he makes Delhiites happy.

Issues Related to Welfare Programs

Despite the celebratory tone, Mahila Samman Yojana and Sanjeevani Yojana have faced issues. The health and women and child development departments of Delhi have recently issued notices disowning the schemes, declaring any collection of personal information under their name as fraudulent.

Responding to the allegations, Kejriwal said that the AAP welfare programs have rattled the central government. He assured the citizens that the party will definitely implement these initiatives despite the issues.

With this creative campaign, AAP is looking to strengthen its connect with Delhi voters ahead of the February polls, blending festive cheer with political messaging.
