When feeling down or isolated, a hug can serve as a powerful energy booster. Science confirms that hugs not only enhance mood but also provide significant mental health benefits. While technology and machines advance, they cannot replicate the genuine human emotions and connections that are vital for well-being. This is why, despite the progress in the most developed nations, loneliness continues to rise.

In response to this, a unique cafe in Tokyo is offering comfort alongside food and drinks. Here, customers can select from various “love packages” at different price points.

Soineya Cafe: A Place to Combat Loneliness With Comfort

Tokyo’s Soineya Cafe provides a solution to loneliness by offering cuddling services, as reported by the South China Morning Post. This special cafe helps customers find solace through emotional support, where waitresses offer hugs or allow patrons to rest on their laps. However, such services come with a price.

Rates for Comfort Packages

According to Japan Today, patrons can rest their head on a waitress’s lap for three minutes for a charge of 1,000 yen (around Rs 500). For those seeking more prolonged comfort, a 20-minute nap in a waitress’s lap costs 3,000 yen (approximately Rs 1,700). If someone wants a 10-hour session lasting the whole night, the fee is 50,000 yen (roughly Rs 27,000). Similar services include a calming pat or being observed for a minute, with comparable fees.

Strict Rules for Interaction

These services focus solely on providing emotional comfort and come with strict rules. The interaction is limited to gentle gestures and conversations, and customers are prohibited from touching the waitresses’ hair or engaging in inappropriate behavior. The aim is to offer a space for emotional healing through companionship.
