At Noida’s Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, female students dominated the top internship placements, as depicted in a viral photograph causing a stir online. The image illustrates that women secured most coveted internships, including two positions at Google and at least seven at Microsoft, with only one male student visible among the top 16 placements.
According to the photograph initially shared on Reddit, two female students secured Google internships offering ₹1.23 lakh stipend each, while six others landed Microsoft internships with a stipend of ₹1.25 lakh. The highest-paying internship at Atlassian was also clinched by a woman, earning ₹1.30 lakh stipend.
The photograph sparked controversy on Reddit and X, with discussions questioning gender biases and diversity hiring practices. Some Reddit users expressed frustration, with one commenting, “Being born a man is a curse in this country,” and another suggesting companies favor women for appearances rather than merit.
However, voices on X countered these views, defending the achievements of the female students and criticizing the notion of men feeling victimized by gender balance efforts. One user highlighted the historical gender disparities, stating, “Now you know what women were going through for centuries.”
