A farewell event at a college in Maharashtra turned tragic after a student collapsed mid-speech and passed away in front of her classmates and teachers.
The heartbreaking incident took place at Shinde College in Paranda, located in the Dharashiv district. Varsha Bharat Kharat, a third-year B.Sc. student, was on stage delivering her farewell speech. While expressing her emotions with a smile, she suddenly collapsed. The moment, caught on camera, has since gone viral, leaving viewers stunned.
She was immediately rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Doctors revealed that Varsha had undergone open-heart surgery in her childhood and was living with a congenital heart condition. Despite her medical history, college staff said she had never shown any visible signs of illness during her time at the institution.

“She was cheerful and active,” said one of the faculty members. “Her parents had informed us about her surgery, but she never complained about any health issues.”
Varsha hailed from a farming family near Madh Taluka in the Solapur district. She is survived by her parents, a brother, and a sister. Her sudden death has left the family in deep shock, and the college community is mourning the untimely loss.
This incident adds to a rising pattern of sudden collapses being reported across the country—many during public events, workouts, or celebrations. Medical experts suggest underlying heart conditions are often to blame.
